The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest Committee held its first meeting for the 2013 event Thursday afternoon in the Chamber board room.
Chillifest chairperson Greg Hornbuckle is in his 4th year of heading the event, and says there has already been a lot of planning that’s taken place for the 2013 edition on the Taylorville square October 5th and 6th.
The event will bring back many favorite attractions, such as bands and dance troupes performing on the Chillifest stage, as well as the Little Miss and Little Mister Chilli Pepper contests.

The 5-K run and walk will also be back, as well as the kiddie tractor pull.
The event celebrates chilli, which will again be served by Chamber volunteers, and is what makes it the organization’s largest fund-raiser of the year. Chillifest is also a sanctioned chilli cook-off event by the International Chilli Society, with chilli and salsa cooks coming from many states to compete.
Information on Chillifest, as well as the many forms and applications for the event, will again be available on-line at chillifest-dot-info…and that’s “chillifest” with 2-L’s.
