One Killed in Semi-Truck and Motorcycle Collision

An accident involving a Semi truck and a motorcycle Wednesday afternoon near Pana has caused the death of a Cowden woman.

According to the Illinois State Police, the accident happened when the motorcycle was rear ended near the intersection of  Routes 51 and 16 in Pana.  Both vehicles were reportedly westbound on Route 16 when the semi truck, driven by 34 year old Tha Yang of Eucha, Oklahoma, rear-ended the motorcycle.  The driver of the motorcycle, 57 year old Charles Dilley of Cowden, and his passenger, 57 year old Carol Dilley of Cowden, were thrown off the vehicle.  Charles Dilley was injured and sent to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  Carol Dilley was airlifted to St. John’s, where she was pronounced dead.

Yang was uninjured. He was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.   The crash remains under investigation.
