Taylorville City Council Holds Busy Meeting

 width=The deadline has been set for resumes to be turned in for the fire chief opening. Mayor Greg Brotherton gave the date in his update at the Taylorville City Council meeting Monday night:

Mike Crews is serving as the Acting Fire Chief and is a candidate for the spot.

 

The Taylorville City Council was told that their requested action has been filed against a Taylorville property for an excessive amount of garbage and the owner had been given a summons for a hearing. City Attorney Rocci Romano explains the situation:

Romano also filed an emergency motion and asked the court to hear the case this Wednesday.

 

The Taylorville City Council approved many motions at their meeting Monday night. The Council approved the mayoral appointment of Ron Nicol to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. They also approved a levy for an additional tax of .02% for the Library purchase of sites and buildings, for the construction and equipment of buildings, and for the maintenance, repairs and alterations of Library buildings and equipment. The motion for the BlueCross/Blue Shield Plan with a 1.65% decrease in health insurance premium rates effective July 1, 2013 and the motion to ratify the payment of 4,980-dollars for a Honda TDU 7000 LXU Diesel Generator and other equipment were approved. Several other payments were approved including the pay request #1 from Maxcore Inc. in the amount of 286,245-dollars for the Cherokee Street Tower Project, the motion to forward to the IEPA for transfer of funds from the IEPA Low Interest Loan to the City in the amount of 18,198-dollars for engineering fees from Benton and Associates, and the acceptance of the bid of 12,450-dollars from Brotcke Well and Pump for Well #3 pump removal and installation.

 

The Council ended the night by going into a closed session to get an update on the ongoing lawsuit over the Hathaway Homes. Mayor Brotherton said there was no comment that could be publicly made on what was discussed in the session.
