Autopsy Today for Pedestrian Killed By A Car

Christian County Corner Amy Winans says that an autopsy will be held today for the 50 year old male pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Saturday, night on Rt. 51 in Pana Township. 

According to police reports, a Ford Explorer driven by a 49 year old Assumption man was headed north on U.S. 51 around 10:30 Saturday night when it struck a pedestrian who was for some reason, out in the middle of the highway.  The still unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Christian County Coroner.

Neither the driver of the Explorer nor either of his 2 passengers were injured.  

The name is being withheld pending notification of family.  The investigation is being handled by Illinois State Police, Christian County Sheriff Office and Christian County Coroner office.
