There are major frauds out there that are targeting our military personnel. These frauds apply to 3 groups: active duty personnel, veterans both those leaving the service now and those who have been veterans for some number of years, and young people who are signing up with the military. Public Advocate Mac MacGwire told Regional Radio News some of the top frauds at the moment:

Other frauds include a veteran’s benefits buyout programs, fake rental properties, and expensive life insurance property. MacGwire advises military personnel to be cautious around ads that use words or phrases such as “quickly” or “need to move this fast.” MacGwire also says to call the Veteran’s Administration for information and check the Better Business Bureau’s website, www.bbb.org/us/military/resources, for guides that cover important information, advice, and contacts.
