WMKR president Randal J. Miller and his daughter Sheri, co-hosted the event, asking listeners to call in their donation to the March of Dimes in their efforts to help prevent birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality.

Listeners donated some 22-hundred dollars, and as a result they tapped into a 2-thousand dollar match the Miller Media Group offered the fund-raiser.

The event was in memory of Sheri's daughter Lexi, who died 40 minutes after birth in April of 2011 due to a birth defect where her lungs were not fully developed.

The executive director of the March of Dimes in Central Illinois, Shannon Mathis, also appeared on the WMKR Radiothon, and explained where the money raised goes.

And, Mathis added that Sheri's team, named Princess Alexis in memory of her daughter, is one of several that will participate in this Saturday's March for Babies at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Each team brings their own storyboard of why they're raising money, many times in memory of a family member such as what the Miller's experienced. Mathis says those storyboards all have a personal message.

Sheri and her team thank all the WMKR listeners that donated during Wednesday's March of Dimes Radiothon.
