Downtown Shelbyville has changed again due to a fire in the downtown area. Three buildings on North Morgan between the Shelby County Detention Center and The Longbranch Bar and Grill caught fire Monday evening around 9 pm. Flames and smoke could be seen from a couple miles away.

Departments from Shelbyville, Strasburg, Sullivan, Tower Hill, Pana, Findlay, Windsor, Lovington, Assumption, and Moweaqua responded to the fire as well as several others.

Fire hoses were aimed at three sides of the building trying to keep the fire under control and from spreading.

The fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared at approximately 4:30 am. There was major damage done to the three buildings and also considerable amount of water and smoke damage.
