Scholarship Awarded by the International Broadcasters Idea Bank

Michelle Carman of Sullivan, a graduate of the Lake Land College radio-tv program and currently enrolled in the radio-tv program at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, was the receipent of a 75-hundred dollar scholarship presented by the International Broadcasters Idea Bank, at their spring convention banquet Tuesday night at the Decatur Convention Center and Hotel.

Carman spoke with Miller Media Group president Randal J. Miller, who is a member of the organization, after her check was presented Tuesday night, and said her passion for the industry which she expressed in her application essay, impressed the judges enough to enable her to win the scholarship.

And Carman said the adjustment from a community college to a 4-year university was hard, but she's made it.

Carman said her ultimate goal is to be a radio air personality in country radio in Nashville.

Carman works part-time for the Cromwell Radio Group in Mattoon while attending EIU.  Cromwell is also a member of the I-B-I-B.
