Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary to Host Run for Your Bone Fund Raiser

The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is putting on a 5k run Saturday. Event committee member Ashly Basso says it’s not too late to register for the run.

The fun run 5k run and walk will be held on Saturday May 4th at the hospital.

Each year the auxiliary ear marks where the money raised at the event will go. This year the money has been pledged to help offset the costs for the new bone density machine that the hospital has purchased. Hence, the name for this year’s event, “The Run for Your Bones” 5k Run and Walk. There will also be a children’s race for kids 10 and under.

Taylorville Memorial Hospital used to borrow a bone density machine from other medical facilities and is very happy to have one of their own. A bone density machine tests skeletal strength and also tells if patients are at risk for a fracture.

The new bone density machine will be at the race so that participants and fans can have their bone density tested to see if they are at risk for bone weakness.

Everyone is invited to participate in the “Run for your Bones” event on Saturday, May 4th at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Registration will be at 8:30 Saturday morning and the run will begin at 9. Register for the event by calling 824-1843 or download an entry form at Taylorvillememorial.org, Registrations will be accepted up to the morning of the event.
