FAA Releases Lists of Possible Control Tower Closures Due to Sequistration; Includes Springfield and Decatur

The Federal Aviation Administration today (Tuesday) released the list of airport control towers that could be closed due to sequistration.

According to the FAA, airport control towers in Bloomington-Normal, Decatur, and Springfield in Central Illinois, could be closed, as part of the 600-million dollars that the Department of Transportation has to cut according to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

LaHood says some air traffic control tower employees may have to be furloughed to come up with the 600-million dollars in mandatory cuts.

It's not known if or when these 3 airports will lose their air traffic controllers.
