There is another contested race in the local elections for Taylorville. The race for alderman in Ward 1 has three candidates running after the retirement of Alderman John Lawrence.
Larry Budd, a current Park Board Member who is running for the position, says that if elected he would like to make some changes in his ward.

Steven Miller a retired Taylorville police officer, who is also running for the position, says that he has attended many city council meetings.

Budd says that his experience will help him as an alderman.

The other candidate for Ward 1 Alderman Brendan Harold was unavailable for comment, after numerous phone calls were made to him.
