The Taylorville wrestling team picked up their first team tournament championship as a program over the weekend at the Clinton Invitational.
Here is wrestling coach Lee Mateer's thoughts on the tournament and the rest of the season.
"Overall, it was a great weekend and I'm very proud of our guys and to make
program history is very memorable. However, we aren't even close to being
satisfied as a team. We have some very high goals for ourselves and all
them have to do with winning championships at the end of the season and not
at the beginning. The awards and winning are nice, but at the end of the
day, this team is interested in championships at the end of season and not
at the beginning. We are going to keep working hard and getting better.
That is what we do, we work very hard and we are going to continue to be
tough. That's our blueprint for success and that's what we do in this
community and we are going to do our very best to exemplify and represent
that everywhere we go."
Here are the overall results for the team at the Clinton Invitational.
