>>Bears Blast Cowboys

(Arlington, TX)  --  Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs returned interceptions for touchdowns as the Bears blasted the Cowboys, 34-18.  Jay Cutler threw for 275 yards and two touchdowns for the
Bears, who improved to 3-and-1.  Brandon Marshall had seven catches for 138
yards and a score in the win.  The Bears visit the Jaguars on Sunday.

Cards Inch Closer To Wild Card Spot

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Jaime [[ HIGH-me ]] Garcia homered and pitched into the seventh inning to lead the
Cardinals to a 4-2 win over the Reds.  Garcia struck out six over
six-and-two-thirds innings to improve to 7-and-7.  Jason Motte earned his 41st
save.  St. Louis' magic number to clinch the second NL Wild Card spot is one. 
Chris Carpenter will oppose Mat Latos [[ LAY-tose ]] in the second game tonight.

>>Astros Blank Cubs

(Chicago, IL)  --  Lucas Harrell and three relievers combined on a two-hitter as the Astros blanked the Cubs, 3-0, in the first of a three-game series. Jason Berken allowed two runs in
four-and-two-thirds innings to fall to 0-and-3.  The Cubs suffered their 100th
loss of the season.  Chris Volstad and Bud Norris are slated to start the middle
game of the series tonight.

>>White Sox Hammer Indians

(Cleveland, OH)  --  Dayan Viciedo hit a grand slam and plated five as the White Sox hammered the Indians, 11-0.  Despite the win, Chicago was eliminated from playoff contention when the Tigers
beat the Royals.  The Tigers captured the AL Central title with the win.  Adam
Dunn knocked in two runs for the White Sox.  Hector Santiago struck out 10 over
seven innings of one-hit ball to improve to 4-and-1.  The series continues at
6:05.

>>Bulls Give Thibodeau Four-Year Extension

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Bulls have given head coach Tom Thibodeau [[ TIBB-oh-doh ]] a four-year contract
extension.  Thibodeau is entering his third season as Bulls head coach.  He has
compiled a 112-and-36 record with two Central Division titles in his first two
seasons with Chicago.

>>Illini At Wisconsin Saturday

(Champaign, IL)  --  Illinois is preparing for Saturday's game at Wisconsin.  The Fighting Illini were drilled
35-7 at home by Penn State in their Big Ten opener this past weekend.  Illinois
is now 2-and-3 overall.  The Badgers lost 30-27 at Nebraska and are now 3-and-2
overall and 0-and-1 in the Big Ten.

>>Rams Host Unbeaten Cardinals Thursday

(St. Louis, MO)  --  The Rams are working on a short week as they prepare for Thursday night's home game
against the undefeated Cardinals.  The Rams evened their record at 2-and-2 with
a 19-13 victory over Seattle this past Sunday.  Arizona is 4-and-0 after a 24-21
overtime win against Miami.
