>>Lynn, Cards Shut Out 'Stros

(St. Louis, MO)  --  David Freese clubbed a two-run homer to back six-and-a-third scoreless innings from Lance
Lynn as the Cardinals cruised to a 5-0 win over the Astros.  Jason Motte [[ MOTT
]] registered the final two outs to nail down his 37th save.  Yadier Molina
popped a solo homer for St. Louis, which has won three games in-a-row.  The
teams wrap up the three-game set with a matinee today.

>>Reds Nip Cubs In 11

(Chicago, IL)  --  Drew Stubbs' RBI single in the top of the 11th gave the Reds a 6-5 win over the Cubs.  Alfonso Soriano belted a two-run homer for Chicago.  Alberto Cabrera took the loss.  The teams
finish up the three-game series with a day game today.

>>Royals Blank White Sox

(Kansas City, MO)  --  Alex Gordon laced a two-run double as the Royals blanked the White Sox, 3-0, last night at Kauffman Stadium.  Chris Sale fanned eight, but allowed all three runs in
six-and-two-thirds innings to fall to 17-and-7.  The White Sox had their winning
streak stopped at five.  Chicago's lead over Detroit in the AL Central is down
to two.  Francisco Liriano gets the nod opposite Jeremy Guthrie in tonight's
series finale.

>>Rams Prepare For Bears

(St. Louis, MO)  --  The Rams continue preparations for Sunday's game against the Bears in Chicago.  Running back Steven Jackson sat out practice yesterday and is considered day-to-day with a
groin strain.  Tackle Wayne Hunter also sat out.  He replaced the injured Rodger
Saffold on Sunday.

>>NHL Cancels Preseason Through September 30th

(New York, NY)  --  The NHL is cancelling preseason games through the end of the month.  The league
announced there will no exhibition games through September 30th due to the
lockout.  The NHL and union are without a labor contract.  The Blues were to
have played Tuesday at Nashville.

>>Mizzou Could Have Franklin Back Saturday

(Columbia, MO)  -- Missouri hopes to have quarterback James Franklin back for Saturday's game at
eighth-ranked South Carolina.  The junior signal-caller practiced yesterday as
he recovers from a shoulder injury.  Corbin Berkstresser played in place of
Franklin last week against Arizona State.
