Taylorville Chamber Pulls Chillifest Beer Request from Monday Council Agenda

The Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce has pulled the request for beer at Chillifest, off the Taylorville City Council’s Monday night agenda.

In an e-mail sent to Chamber board members and Miller Media president Randal J. Miller on Friday, Chamber president and CEO Patty Hornbuckle stated that she spoke individually with each Chamber executive board member on Friday, and they concurred that this would be a logical decision according to Hornbuckle.

She added that she was in contact on Friday with Taylorville Mayor Greg Brotherton about the Chamber’s decision to pull the issue from Monday night’s City Council agenda, and he stated he would speak about Chillifest and let it be known that the Chamber's decision was not due to pressure from opposition, but due to event planning.

Hornbuckle added that Mayor Brotherton also mentioned that he would expect every organization and individual that was in opposition to this issue be in support of and attend Chillifest.

Hornbuckle said in her Friday e-mail, that every poll that had been taken was overwhelmingly in support of the beer at Chillifest, including the Mayor's own poll.

She added that several other options have been discussed and will be addressed at the next Chamber Board Meeting.
