>>Cards Open Series With Rockies
(Denver, CO)  --  The Cardinals begin a three-game series with the Rockies at Coors Field this evening.  Kyle Lohse [[ lowsh ]] will get the start on the mound for St. Louis.  Colorado will
counter with Jeff Francis.  First-pitch is at 7:40.

>>Garcia Tosses Rehab Outing
(Jupiter, FL)  --  Cardinals pitcher Jaime [[ HIGH-me ]] Garcia made a rehab start yesterday.  Garcia tossed two-and-a-third scoreless innings for the Gulf Coast League Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida. 
Garcia landed on the DL with a shoulder impingement in early June.

>>Cubs Pummel Pirates
(Chicago, IL)  --  Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro each went deep during a nine-run fifth inning as the Cubs crushed the Pirates, 14-4, in the opener of a three-game series.  Darwin Barney added a
three-run shot and four RBI in Chicago's third straight win.  Justin Germano
went five innings to earn his first win in his first start with the Cubs.  Ryan
Dempster is slated to toe the rubber opposite A.J. Burnett in tonight's second
installment.

>>Cubs Make Deal With Braves
(Chicago, IL)  --  The Cubs have agreed to trade pitcher Paul Maholm and outfielder Reed
Johnson to the Braves in exchange for pitchers Arodys Vizcaino and Jaye
Chapman.  Dating back to June 29th, Maholm is 5-and-0 with a 1.02 ERA.  Johnson
is hitting .302 with three homers and 16 RBI this year.

>>Twins Trim White Sox
(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Jamey Carroll's sac-fly RBI in the bottom of the ninth gave the Twins a 7-6 win over the White Sox in the first of a three-game series.  A.J. Pierzynski belted a three-run
homer and Alejandro De Aza had four hits and two RBI for the White Sox.  Brett
Myers was charged with the loss.  Francisco Liriano will make his South Side
debut against Nick Blackburn and his former team in this evening's second
installment.
