Bowling Team Coming Back to Taylorville High School

 width=The Taylorville School Board met on Monday night and many issues were discussed. One of the most pressing issues brought up at the meeting was the recent request to bring back the bowling team to Taylorville High School. This was previously discussed at the June 19th athletic committee meeting.

Athletic Committee Chairman Seth McMillan says that the bowling team has produced many scholarship athletes in years past.

McMillan says that bowling will be back for the 2012-13 school year.

The motion to bring back the bowling team passed unanimously.

Another issue brought up in the Superintendent’s Report by Superintendent Gregg Fuerstenau was the process of selling the West School Property.
Fuerstenau says that Board Attorney Tom Doyle discussed the issue of selling the property at the R.O.E. Meeting on Monday night.

The issue of the West School Property will be discussed further at future school board meetings and building committee meetings.

Another item that was discussed before the meeting is the upcoming renaming of Taylorville High School’s West Gym to Dolph Stanley Gym.

Board Member Kate Fraley says that many Taylorville players and family of Stanley will come back to celebrate the new name.

Another important bit of new business at the meeting was the handing out of two diplomas to, two new Taylorville High School graduates. Megan Workman (pictured above with Board President David Cowell) and Haley Robinson were given their diplomas at the meeting.

Another item brought up at the meeting was the consideration of the FY13 General Supply Bids. Included in this were 30 Apple Ipad 3’s and also 3 Apple Macbook Air 11’s. These items will be in use at Taylorville Junior High School. The FY13 General Supply Bid passed unanimously.

Other items that passed unanimously at the meeting include:

A consideration of Resolution for allowance of Inter-Fund Transfers

A consideration of FY13 Elementary textbook purchases

A consideration of Board Policies

Again all of those measures passed unanimously at the meeting.

The next School Board Meeting will occur on August 13th.
