Termite Problem Discussed At Park Board Meeting

The Taylorville Park Board held a meeting last night and many issues were discussed at the meeting. One of the main issues brought up was the termite problem that has been killing trees off in the park.

President of the Park Board Marlane Miller says that she does not want this issue to continue.

The termite issue will be discussed further in future park board meetings.

Another issue discussed were possible safety hazards.

Kelly Bland the Director of Park Operations and Finance says that although there were some hazards, Park Maintenance Superintendent Gary Brown has fixed many of them since their discussion.

Also brought up in the Park and Finance Director report at the meeting was the increase in pool passes purchased.

Bland says that there is one key reason why there has been an increase in pool passes purchased.

Other issues brought up at the meeting was the ordinance of 2012-14 notice of Christian County Prevailing Wage Rate which was mandatory and passed unanimously. Another issue was the Resolution 2012-15 to adopt the Taylorville Park District Safety Policy Statement and Safety and Health Manual to prevent accidents and provide a safe environment for employees and for the general public. This resolution passed unanimously as well. Also brought up at the meeting was a quote on the air conditioning unit at the Manner’s Park Pool which has broken. There was a quote received from Yard Heating and Cooling, and Option 2 of three options was accepted which was one Trane three ton air conditioning unit, one suction line filter, one liquid line drier, and a five year parts warranty. The cost of this investment was $2,165.63.

The next park board meeting will be on July 23rd.
