On Saturday Kevin E. Hix 29 of Pana was traveling east on 250 North 2670 East Road when he saw a deer coming from the South of 250 North Road.

Hix said he was driving too fast for conditions. Hix tried to brake, but the brakes did not work. Hix then drove off the road into the South ditch and hit a utility pole with his 2002 Pontiac Grand AM SE on the left back driver's side door. The vehicle came to a rest in a bean field on the South side of West Road.

Hix was taken to Pana Community Hospital for injuries and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
