Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held to Unveil New Solar Panels at Taylorville Municipal Airport

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Monday at the Taylorville Municipal Airport to unveil the new Solar Panels that were purchased by the City of Taylorville. Many people were at the event, including US Congressman for the Illinois 19th district John Shimkus.

Shimkus says he likes an all the above energy plan.

Taylorville Mayor Greg Brotherton was also at the event and says that the solar panels faced some opposition in the beginning because of the cost.

Brotherton says that the panels will reduce the city’s electric bill.

Brotherton says that there were many contributing factors to the location of the panels.

The event featured a look at the panels, some refreshments, and also featured some solar energy prizes.
