At 11:12AM, the Pana Police Department and the Pana Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a single vehicle accident in the South East corner of Kitchell Park. Upon arrival it was determined that at 2007 Ford Taurus, occupied by four individuals, had struck a large tree at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.

A 24-year-old female driver was transported by Arch Ambulance Service to a Springfield, Illinois Trauma Unit. A 23-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old female passenger and a 3-month-old male passenger were transported to Pana Community Hospital by Pana Ambulance Service where they were later pronounced dead. Autopsies will be conducted Saturday, April 28, 2012. Information on the identity of the occupants is being withheld pending notification of family.
