The Taylorville City Council passed many ordinances on Monday night. One of the key ordinances was in regards to the increase of prices for cemetery plots. The increase will go into effect on May 1st 2012. The rate will increase a normal grave from $500 to $625 for a resident.
Alderman Earl Walters of Ward IV says that the change is ok because of the beauty of the Taylorville Cemetery.[audio:EarlWaltersCityCouncilClip41712.mp3]comment here[/audio]
The Taylorville Airport also came up in the meeting as there was a need for insurance to be renewed for the airport. The price for insurance for the airport has dropped in recent years, and Alderman Walters says that the decrease in price is due to the improvements made on the airport.
Waste Management also gave a check of $2500 to the City of Taylorville (Pictured Above) to help fund the Solar Panel project.
Walters says that Waste Management has worked well with Taylorville in recent years.
