Jefferson County Sheriff Roger Mulch says the tornado that hit Opdyke last Friday is one of the rarest he's ever seen.
One woman and a family dog were killed in that twister, which had an EF-2 rating. The woman's home is the only one that was hit by the tornado.
Mulch says unusually warm weather is part to blame for the twisters that have struck Southern Illinois in the last month. He urges families to keep their eyes to the sky and develop a severe weather safety plan.
