Bruce Weber has been fired as head coach of the Illinois men's basketball team. ESPN is reporting Weber sent a text message to them telling them he had been let go.
Weber had a record of 210-101 in nine years at Illinois, but the Fighting Illini went 17-15 overall and dropped 12 of their last 14 games, including a 64-61 loss in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament last night.
The loss ended any hope for a NCAA Tournament bid.
