Over 200 people attended Thursday night's Loving Arms Crisis Pregnancy Center annual banquet at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auditorium. The banquet is the largest fund-raiser for the non-profit, faith-based ministry located just south of Taylorville Memorial Hospital on Walnut Street, which brings help to women and families facing unplanned pregnancies.
Guest speaker was Cathi Woods, executive director of The Pregnancy Care Clinic of Concord, California. Woods has served for over 20 years as C-E-O of various non-profit organizations on a local and national level. Her story about abortion has been the subject of a film entitled "Running Inside Out."
Woods shared with the Loving Arms audience, her personal experience of having an abortion at 21 and an unplanned pregnancy at 27, and how she found Christ.
Woods told Regional Radio News after the banquet, that it was the power of just one person that showed they cared, that helped her decide to keep her unborn child when she was 27.
Loving Arms served some 475 people in Christian County and surrounding area in 2011, and taught sexual abstinence to over 800 students in area schools last year.
