The Taylorville Tornado Wrestling team placed 4^th at the George Girardi U-High Invitational this past Saturday at Normal U-High. It is the highest finish ever for the Tornado Wrestling squad. 15 teams from all over central Illinois were represented including Peoria, Danville, Decatur, Rantoul, Normal and Taylorville. The Tornados finished 4^th with 151 total points, behind Pontiac at 185.5, Peoria High at 165 and Peoria Notre Dame at 163.

Kidd Morrison – 6^th place – 120 lbs.

Jake Smothers – 3^rd place – 126 lbs.

Nic Turner – 6^th place – 160 lbs.

Brock Letcher – 5^th place – 170 lbs.

Dalton Stokes – 3^rd place – 182 lbs.

Heath Garner – 4^th place – 195 lbs.

Kyle Tex – 3^rd place – 220 lbs.

Blake Hooper – 4^th place – Heavyweight

Sunday, the wrestling team and some of the dads attended the University of Iowa vs. Northwestern wrestling meet in Iowa City. Coach Mateer was extremely pleased with the trip. The day was hi-lighted when the entire team got to meet wrestling and coaching legend Dan Gable.
