Governor Pat Quinn is defending his decision to give a multi-million dollar tax break to Sears Holdings, despite the company's announcement it's shutting down more than 100 stores.

Quinn points to the fact that there are repercussions if Sears doesn't keep its end of the bargain.  The company would have to pay the state back if it renegs on the agreement and pulls the headquarters and jobs out of Illinois.  Sears officials say its fourth quarter performance didn't meet expectations and closing the stores will save nearly 200-million dollars.
