The Lake Land College Foundation recently received the largest, single cash donation in its 41 year history from the Hazel Moore Crosby Estate.  The gift, totaling $715,000, will establish the Hazel Moore Crosby Memorial Endowment, which will award the Hazel Moore Crosby Cosmetology Memorial Scholarship and the Hazel Moore Crosby Nursing Memorial Scholarship to Lake Land students.

Moore Crosby was considered by some people to be a pioneer and leader for women, especially during the years in which she lived. Born in 1908 in Dorans, Moore Crosby went on to attend Eastern Illinois Teachers College from 1926-1930 and then continued her education at the University of Illinois where she received her master’s degree in 1938.

The Lake Land College Foundation was established exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. The Foundation assists the college in developing and enhancing the educational opportunities and service to its students, alumni and citizens of the district.
