New Member of the Sheriff's Office

 width=Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp has announced the newest member of the Sheriff’s Office. On Thursday, Deputy James D. Pickett graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy. Deputy Pickett will replace Deputy Neighbors who left the Sheriff’s Office to become a Trooper with the Illinois State Police.

  While assigned to the recruit training class Deputy Pickett was instructed in a variety of courses including Illinois Criminal and Traffic Law, Arrest Procedures, Accident Investigation, First Aid and Firearms Training.

 Deputy Pickett began his field training with the Sheriff’s Office on Monday, December 19th which is expected to continue through January.

Deputy Pickett is a lifelong resident of Taylorville. He attended Taylorville High School where he played football and baseball. He graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Criminal Justice. He also served as an intern with the Illinois State Police.
