Deer Harvesting For Illinois

Christian County hunters harvested a total of 177 deer during last weekend’s firearm deer season. The number was considerably smaller than the number taken during the first portion of the firearm season November 18 through 20th, when 510 deer were harvested. Total harvest this year was 687.

In Shelby County, 428 deer were taken last weekend compared with 1002 last month, for a total of 1430. In Montgomery County, hunters brought in 343 deer last weekend and 834 in November, for a total of 1177. Macon County hunters harvest 138 deer last weekend and 227 last month for a total of 365. Sangamon County reports 270 deer harvested last weekend and 524 in November for a total of 794.

Most locations are reported slightly higher totals this year as compared to last. The most deer were harvested in Pike County with a total 2,958.

Meanwhile, the archery deer season continues through January 15th. The three day muzzleloader only season is this weekend.
