Boosting the State's Economy is About Much More Than Tax Deals

Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka says creating jobs and boosting the state’s economy is about much more than cutting sweet deals with two major Chicago businesses.

Topinka says lawmakers are missing the point when it comes to providing tax relief. She says they’re running the state on the backs of small business and once they hand out tax deals to a few big companies, others will come linking up. The plan to give Sears and CME about 100-million dollars in tax breaks failed this week in Springfield but Governor Quinn’s says they’re still looking at ways to make it work.
