Christian County Court Cases 5/30/19

The following cases were heard in Christian County Court in front Judge Brad T. Paisley:

 

William H. Baker of Pana was present in court today.  Pretrial scheduled for June 28, 2019.  402 conference scheduled June 28th as well.

 

Logan M. Beck of Pana was present in court today.  Pretrial scheduled for July 23rd.  State set to make plea offer.

 

Sarah L. Carnahan of Pana was present in court today.  Carnahan waived preliminary hearing waives arraignment and pleads not guilty and demands trial by jury.  Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 25th.

 

Eric B. Crompton of Taylorville was present in court today.  Due to a court appearance in Macon County, the court set a pretrial continuance for August 5th. 

 

Haley M. Dixon of Pana was not present in court today and is in treatment.  Preliminary hearing scheduled for June 28th.

 

Tina M. Jobe of Pana was present in court today.  Pretrial hearing continued to June 10th.

 

Sean W. King of Taylorville was present in court today.  After an open guilty plea to the charge of criminal damage, no judgement of conviction was entered and Mr. King will be admitted to problem solving court. Sentence hearing stayed.

 

Melinda D. Kraut of Taylorville was not present in court today.  Notice to appear issued for June 7th.

 

Quinton L. Morrissey was in custody today.  Pretrial continued to June 27th.  Defendant does not have anything more

from his expert witness, but the State is expected to have additional reports from their witness within 2 weeks. 

 

Toby A. Moyer of Pana was present in court today.  A hearing for petition to revoke will be scheduled July 26th.

 

Gerald J. Powszynski of Pana was present in court today. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 14th.

 

Mary A. Scott did not appear in court today but was represented by counsel. Sentencing hearing scheduled for continuance August 22nd.

 

Joseph F. Sherman of Pana appeared in court today. Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 29th.  Plea offer made.

 

Jennifer J. Smith of Assumption was in custody today.  Waives preliminary hearing, waives arraignment, pleads not guilty and demands trial by jury.  Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 23rd. Ordered furloughed from jail in order to go to inpatient treatment. Also ordered to immediately return to jail upon leaving the facility.

 

Nicole M. Waller appeared in court today. Pretrial continuance scheduled for June 27th.

 

Sierra D. Willis appeared in court today.  Pretrial hearing scheduled for July 11th. 

 

James J. Humphrey appeared in custody today.  The motion hearing for bond was heard.  The state represented by Michael Havera asked Judge Paisley to set the bond at $1,000,000 and stated that after the police read Mr. Humphrey his Miranda rights, that the police asked him if he had any illegal drugs in his house, Mr. Humphrey responded back with “Not as much as last time.”  After Mr. Drake argued for his client, stating that Mr. Humphrey had exhausted all of his bond options last time, Judge Paisley set the bond at $1,000,000.  Preliminary hearing scheduled for June 24th.
