Christian County Court Cases 11/21/23

The following cases were heard on November 21st, 2023:

 

Kyle Adler: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Case called for hearing on motion for furlough. Defendant present documentary evidence. Arguments heard. Motion denied without prejudice. Defendant may be screened by Safe Passage at the jail. Pretrial and hearing on other pending motions 12/8/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Joseph Auman: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/23/24 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 2/12/24 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing.
Trial in abstentia admonition given. Subpoenas to continue.

 

Alfred Compian: Defendant present with Public Defender and SP Kroencke present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 1/23/24 at 10 a.m.

 

Nicholas Cox: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, hearing on the petition to revoke scheduled for in person hearing on 1/19/24 at 11 a.m. Defendant admonished regarding hearing in his absence.

 

Lucas Fenton: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 12/12/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Hayden Klespitz: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Defendant knowingly and voluntarily waives his right to a jury trial and requests a bench trial. See written waiver. Bench trial scheduled for 1/29/24 at 9 a.m. all day. Subpoenas contnued.

 

Brittany Kuhns: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, preliminary hearing scheduled for 1/12/24 at 9 a.m.

 

Austin Mayes: Defendant present with Public Defender in custody of the Sheriff and State's Attorney present. Hearing on fitness set for 11/28/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Jason Lindsey: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/23/24 at 10 a.m.

 

Melinda Mahone: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/23/24 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 2/12/24 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Eric Merritt: Defendant present with Public Defender in IDOC custody and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial/possible plea hearing continued to 12/1/23 at 10 a.m. Writ continued.

 

James Middleton: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/11/24 at 10 a.m. Subpoenas continued to the next jury trial date when scheduled.

 

Patricia Miller: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 1/22/24 at 10 a.m. State made plea offer today.

 

Joseph Moore: Defendant present in person with counsel and Assistant State's Attorney present. Defendant enters a partially negotiated plea to count I. Remaining counts dismissed. Defendant is extended term eligible, but pursuant to the partially negotiated plea, state agrees not to seek an extended term sentence. Defendant ordered to immediately report to the probation department. Probation department ordered to prepare pre-sentence investigation report and to facilitate a TASC evaluation which is also ordered by the Court. In person sentencing hearing scheduled for 2/22/24 at 1:15 p.m. Defendant admonished regarding sentencing hearing in his absence. Probation department ordered to file pre-sentence investigation report and provide copies to all counsel of record at least 14 days before the sentencing hearing.

 

Jenny Neville: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Defendant knowingly and voluntarily waives her right to a jury trial and requests a bench trial. See written waiver. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/18/24 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

Robin Parsons: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Defendant knowingly and voluntarily waives her right to a jury trial and requests a bench trial. See written waiver. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/25/24 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

Justin Sexton: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. In person plea hearing scheduled for 12/1/23 at 10 a.m. Writ to issue.

 

Joseph Sherman: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 1/18/24 at 10 a.m. Subpoenas continued to trial date when scheduled.

 

Tyler Sigretto: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Defendant provides proof of completion of treatment. Petition to revoke withdrawn on motion of the State. Probation terminated. All balances owed in all cases forwarded to collections.

 

Thomas Sipes: Defendant present in custody on warrant with Public defender and Special Prosecutor present. Pretrial hearing and hearing on any bond related motion scheduled for 11/27/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Matthew Tarrant: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 1/22/24 at 10 a.m.

 

Kameron Townsend: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, preliminary hearing scheduled for 1/16/24 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

James Williams: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, case continued for presentation of negotiated plea on 12/1/23 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

Brent Woodall: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Plea hearing scheduled for 11/30/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Andrew Woods: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, Defendant's motion to continue pretrial and jury trial granted without objection. Time chargeable to the Defendant. Parties have reached an agreement for an Illinois Department of Corrections sentence on two of the felony cases pending in Christian County. Defendant has pending charges in Shelby and Macon counties that the parties are trying to resolve with the global offer. Plea hearing scheduled for an in person hearing on 12/7/23 at 10 a.m. in person.

 

Troy Woods: Defendant present with Public Defender Senger in custody and in person. State's Attorney Present. Defendant pleads guilty after being fully admonished to Count I. Remaining counts dismissed pursuant to partially negotiated plea. Parties do not have an agreement as to a sentence. In person sentencing hearing scheduled for 1/18/24 at 1:15 p.m. Probation department ordered to prepare pre-sentence investigation report and to facilitate sex offender evaluation which is also ordered. State to file motion to revoke bond which will be scheduled for hearing on 12/12/23 at 10 a.m.
