Christian County Court Cases 8/22/23

The following cases were heard on August 22nd, 2023:

 

Joshua Bland: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 8/31/23 at 10 a.m. TC staffing to be done this week.

 

Jacob Bright: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 10/24/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant has met with counsel and discovery review is ongoing.

 

Dale Detmers: Defendant fails to appear. Warrant to issue. Geographic limits of the warrant are Christian County and surrounding counties. Bond set at $25,000 over objection of Public defender. Bond forfeiture notice to issue, returnable on 10/17/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued 10/24/23 at 10 a.m. By agreement, warrant quashed and bond forfeiture warrant vacated.

 

Leanna Grissom: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. PTR withdrawn on motion of the state for reasons stated on the record.

 

Alonzo Hoyer: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial/possible hearing continued to 10/19/23 at 10 a.m. In person writ to issue.

 

Landon Moore: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Defendant waives arraignment, pleads not guilty, and demands trial by jury. Pretrial hearing scheduled for 10/24/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Kevin Rensman: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial/possible plea hearing 10/24/23 at 10 a.m. In person writ to issue.

 

Jerry Riggs: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing an hearing on Defendant's motion for furlough scheduled for 8/28/23 at 10 a.m.

 

Ronald Robinson, Jr.: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Case dismissed on motion of the State at the request of the alleged victim. Bond to be refunded less the clerk's bond fee and any incidental expenses.

 

Wesley Rogers: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 9/19/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant has other matters in other counties and parties anticipate global resolution a next date.

 

Matthew Tarrant: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 10/24/23 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 11/6/23 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing. Trial in abstentia admonition given. All other pending matters set for pretrial on the final pretrial date in this matter.

 

Patrick Weaver: Defendant present in custody of DHS with Public defender and State's Attorney present. Parties stipulate to the report of DHS and Court finds Defendant is unfit to stand trial without any substantial probability of attaining fitness within one year. State requests additional time to determine how it wishes to proceed with the charges given this ruling. Status hearing scheduled for 8/25/23 at 10 a.m. By agreement, Defendant remanded back to the custody of the Sheriff.

 

Andrew Woods: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 11/21/23 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 12/4/23 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing. Trial in abstentia admonition given. All other pending matters set for pretrial with the final pretrial.

 

Jordan Young: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. Negotiated plea presented and approved by the Court, whereby Defendant pleads guilty to the charge of Unlawful violation of an order protection. Judgment of conviction entered. By agreement, Defendant sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by four years of MSR with credit for 124 days served, and to be served concurrently with Christian County case 21-CF-140. Defendant assessed a $1000 fine plus assessments. Petition for waiver granted. See written orders.
