The following cases were heard on August 1st, 2023:

Brandon Giddens: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 9/26/23 at 10 a.m. Writ to issue. PD to schedule phone call since Defendant moves to another facility. State has answered discovery and made plea offer. In person writ to issue.

Allison Grothaus: Parties present by counsel and State just learned Defendant is in Sangamon County jail and did not get writ issued. Writ to issue for pretrial on 8/24/23 at 10 a.m.

Jeffrey Jones: Defendant present in custody with Asst. Public Defender, who is appointed to represent Defendant. State's Attorney present. Defendant admonished re charges and possible penalties. Proffer made. Probable cause found. Bond hearing conducted. Cash bond found appropriate in the amount of $750,000, subject to the terms of the pretrial release order. See written order. Preliminary hearing scheduled for 8/25/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant has parole warrant. In person writ to issue.

Melinda Kraut: Defendant fails to appear. Notice to appear to issue for 8/15/23 at 10 a.m.

Dennis Lowe III: Defendant present with Public Defender and State's Attorney present. By agreement, pretrial hearing continued to 9/14/23 at 10 a.m. State makes probation offer today. Defendant will meet with counsel to review same.

Jacob Melton: Parties present by counsel. Status of preliminary hearing scheduled for 8/31/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant not present due to medical issue.

Cedrick Pates: Defendant fails to appear. SP Kurtz present. Warrant to issue. Bond set at $25,000 over objection of APD Grigsby. Bond forfeiture notice to issue, returnable on 8/28/23 at 10 a.m. Defendant appears late with counsel. Warrant and bond forfeiture order vacated and quashed. PTR hearing scheduled for 8/28/23 at 11 a.m. in person.

Jack Skinner: Defendant fails to appear. State's Attorney present. Warrant to issue. Bond set at $10,000 over objection of APD Grigsby. Bond forfeiture notice to issue, returnable on 9/14/23 at 10 a.m.

Clint Varese: Defendant present with counsel and State's Attorney present. By agreement, final pretrial hearing scheduled for 10/24/23 at 1:15 p.m. Jury trial scheduled for 11/6/23 at 8:30 a.m. Both hearings are in person. Parties ordered to file pretrial motions at least 30 days before the jury trial to be heard at the final pretrial hearing. Trial in abstentia admonition given.
