Area Arrests And Accidents 2/11/26

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

2/10/26

Jessie McConnell, 20, of Taylorville was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Possession of Methamphetamine and Meth Delivery.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

A two vehicle accident occured at 401 N. Webster Street in Taylorville.  Gayla A. Coss of Nokomis stated they were traveling Northbound on Webster into the turn lane to make a left hand turn into CVS.  Nancy L. McKinney of Taylorville already traveling southbound struck Coss as they proceeded to turn.  McKinney was treated for minor injuries and transported to TMH.  

 

On January 24th, 2026 at 3:12 PM. Kortnee Baughn of Taylorville was travelling to fast for conditions on the snow covered roadway heading east on E. Park St. Baughn left the roadway on the right and slid into a control box and the traffic light pole knocking the traffic light pole to the ground Baughn did leave the scene but called later to report the accident. No injuries were reported.

 

On January 26th, 2026 at 12:38 PM Mark Langen of Morrisonville was traveling east on Spresser Street. Sonya L. Frazier of Taylorville stated they were at the stop sign on Madison Street. Frazier stated they could not see the car coming due to the pile of snow. Frazier pulled onto Spresser Street striking Langen on the passenger side.  No injuries were reported.

 

On January 27th, 2026 at 6:14 PM. Lisa L. Hinds of Springfield was traveling eastbound on Park street.  Natalie L. Herman of Stonington was westbound on Park Street.  Herman was waiting to turn southbound onto Water Street.  Herman's vision was obstructed by another vehicle in the turn lane to turn north.  Herman proceeded to turn southbound and did not see Hinds coming and they struck Herman on the passenger side.  Herman was taken by ambulance.  Hinds refused but later agreed to go to be evaluated.  Hinds was taken to TMH by police.  

 

On January 28th, 2026 at approximately 2:26 P.M., Christian County 911 received a call referencing a traffic crash in front of Arby's on Cheney St. Upon arrival, we made contact with both drivers. John A. Steele of Taylorville advised they had been waved on by a car waiting for the traffic light at the intersection of Springfield/Cheney. They proceeded from the parking lot of Arby's into the intersection to make a left hand (southbound) turn onto Cheney, when they were struck by Leann Y. Coots. Coots advised they were southbound on Cheney, when Steele appeared in front of them from between the line of vehicles waiting at the light. Coots struck Steele in the passenger side of the vehicle. Neither party was injured.
