The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

3/31/25

 

A Juvenile Female, age , of Taylorville, was arrested for Fighting.

4/01/25

 

Haley L. Springer, age 31, of Pana Illinois, was arrested on a Warrant.

 

4/02/25

 

Gidget M. Perez, age 49, of Decatur Illinois, was arrested for Criminal Trespass.

 

4/03/25

 

Morgan C. Farr, age 44, of Taylorville, was arrested for Theft Over $10,000. 

 

A Juvenile Male, age 17, of Taylorville, was arrested for DUI and for Leaving the Scene of an Accident. 

 

4/04/25

 

Michael P. Mcnear, age 47, of Taylorville, was arrested for Delivery of Methamphetamine.

 

4/06/25

 

Ashley A. Woods, age 39, of Kincaid Illinois, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

Brian L. Moses, age 61, of Taylorville, was arrested for DUI and Driving While License Revoked.

 

4/07/25

 

Tamara J. Cook, age 63, of Taylorville , was arrested for Delivery of Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

Richard C. Shivers, age 51, of Taylorville, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.

 

4/09/25

 

James M. Biggers, age 42, of Taylorville, was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

 

Taylorville Police responded to the following vehicle crashes; 

 

On March 14th at 3:48 PM, police arrived to Cheney Street and Springfield Drive.  Jordan A. Perry of Assumption stated that they were stopped at a stop light traveling southeast on Springfield Road when Debra Gill of Tuscon Arizona struck the rear of the vehicle.  Gill confirmed that was correct.  No injuries were reported.  

 

On March 28th, 2025 at 2:47 PM police responded to a vehicle crash at 1420 West Spresser Street. 

Valerie A. Kennedy of Riverton was traveling westbound on W. Spresser Street when she realized she was going the wrong direction. She pulled into Scattergood’s Detail Shop in an attempt to turn around. Jaclyn S. Pugsley of Taylorville told officers she saw Kennedy enter the lot and believed she was preparing to make a U-turn. Pugsley began slowing down, anticipating Kennedy’s move, but was unable to stop in time and struck her vehicle. Both drivers were cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Pugsley reported back injuries resulting from the crash.

 

On March 24th, 2025, at 4:10 PM, police arrived to Main Cross and Washington to respond to a two motor vehicle accident.  Cheryl Waterman of Taylorville was traveling southbound on Washington when Morgan E. Smith of Taylorville began backing out of a parking space and collided.  No injuries were reported. 

 

On April 3rd, 2025, at 9:30 PM a 17-year-old was driving south on Washington Street and overtook, improperly passing a 16-year-old.  The two vehicles crashed, causing damage to the left rear fender of the 16 year old's vehicle.  The 17-year-old left the scene.  No injuries were reported but citations were issued.  

 

On April 7th, 2025, Judy K Baur of Taylorville was traveling east on Route 29 towards Lake Taylorville.  After Baur crossed the East Main Cross Intersection a deer came across the roadway, striking Baur's car.  Several IDOT workers witnessed the crash and cleaned up the debris, moving the deer.  No injuries were reported, but the vehicle sustained heavy damage.  

 

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

4/9/25

 

James Biggers, 42, was arrested by the Taylorville Police Department for Vehicle Theft Conspiracy.

 

Rachel Newingham, 44, of Oconee was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office for Driving Under the Influence, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle

 

 

3/27/25 at 6:10 a.m.

 

Richard Siegert, 65, of Pana was traveling East on RT. 16 when a deer ran into the roadway. The collision caused major damage to the front of the vehicle and was towed from the scene by Morrell Auto Service.

 

4/2/25 at 5:04 p.m.

 

Jack Wilkerson, 64, of Decatur (Unit 1) and Johnathon Hanke, 42, of Swansea, IL (Unit 2)

Unit 1 was traveling North on RT 48 and Unit 2 was traveling South. Evidence on scene indicates that Unit 1 collided with Unit 2. Unit 1 left the roadway on the Northside of IL 48 into a field. the crash occurred during heavy rain.

 

4/5/25 at 9:28 a.m.

 

Michael Jayne, 44, of Springfield was traveling West near 1155 E 2800 North RD. Unit 1 left the roadway to the right and struck a culvert embankment causing Unit 1 to become airborne, Unit 1 then struck a ditch embankment causing Unit 1 to overturn onto its roof. Vehicle was towed from the scene by Kertow’s Towing.

 

8:03 p.m.

 

Jeffrey Beard, 33, of St. Louis was traveling Southwest on IL RT 48 and approximately 700 E when it struck a deer.

 

4/6/25 at 5:40 a.m.

 

Mark Stewart, 33, of Taylorville was traveling North on 1025 East RD lost control and went off the Westside of the roadway and hit a tree causing significant damage. When police and fire arrived the vehicle was unoccupied. Taylorville Memorial Hospital contacted the Sheriff’s Office later and informed that the passenger in the crash was at the emergency room with minor injuries. Contact was made with the passenger while at the hospital and the driver was confirmed and contact was made with the driver at his residence.
