Area Arrests And Accidents 08/16/23

The Christian County Sheriff's Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

Arrests: 

 

 

8-14-23 Kyle Nation, age 30, of Taylorville was arrested for online sale/stolen property.

 

Crashes

 

7-31-23 Joel Ashburn was traveling  north on 1600 East Road when he struck a deer at 1198 North Road. No injuries. No tow.

 

8-9-23 Joseph Lucas and Marilyn Spillman were involved in a traffic crash in Taylorville township. Spillman was stopping traffic on IL Route 104 in the westbound lane waiting to turn south onto 1077 East. Lucas was traveling westbound on IL Route 104 and did not stop in traffic for Spillman. Lucas hit the rear of Spillman’s vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and both were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

 

8-12-23 Michelle Beck was traveling southbound on 1600 E. Road and stopped at the stop sign at 1600 E. Road. She attempted to make a hard right turn onto Lincoln Trail, failed to negotiate the turn and drove into the ditch at the southwest corner of this intersection. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No injuries. 

 

8-15-23 Cory Neal was traveling west on IL Route 104 in rural Taylorville when a deer entered the roadway. Neal struck the deer causing heavy damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. No injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Dalton L. Hayes, age 30, of Taylorville was arrested for Theft.

 

8/12/23

 

Trevor A. Durbin, age 23, of Taylorville was arrested for Domestic Battery.

 

Cailee N. Clow, age 23, of Taylorville was arrested for Domestic Battery.

 

Thomas E. Harris Jr., age 23, of Taylorville was arrested for Driving While License Suspended.

 

8/13/23

 

Amy L. Cunitz, age 44, of Kincaid Illinois was arrested for Driving with Suspended Registration.
 

 

On July 27th, 2023 police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle that appeared to have been left as a result of a single vehicle accident.  The vehicle was in a disabled state and had significant damage.  The driver later called the TPD and stated that the cause of the crash was the result of striking a deer and failing to gain control of the vehicle.  Officers on the scene reported that they saw no sign of a struck animal and no damage to the area that was stated to have been struck. Trae Myers of Assumption was given a citation for failure to report the unattended/damaged vehicle. 

 

Andre Snow of Taylorville struck Sarah Clayton after Snow failed to yield the right of way at West Adams/Houston Street on July 28th at 11:27 PM. Both units were towed from the scene for disabling damage.  Snow was transported to St. Johns Hospital in Springfield while their passenger was transported to TMH.  The front-seat passenger of Clayton's vehicle was also transported to TMH. 

 

On July 31st, at 2:38 PM Lacey Hamell contacted TPD in reference to her vehicle being struck in front of her house while it was parked.  She said she had footage on her home camera system of the driver of the other vehicle--Hank Skinner of Taylorville. Skinner drove east on East Poplar Street crossing over and striking her parked truck.  The suspect's vehicle was located in the alleyway of 1126 East Esther Street.  Skinner was issued three citations including improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving while license suspended. 

 

On August 4th, at 4:51 PM, William J. Spinner was traveling southbound on IL Route 29. about 0.48 miles southeast of the intersection at North Pershing Avenue, Spinner came to a stop at a temporary traffic light for road maintenance.  Elizabeth Wood failed to reduce speed and struck Spinner's rear bumper.  Wood was given a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
