Area Arrests, Accidents, And Fire Calls 9/10/19

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

28-year-old Gregory M. Stone of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for an original arrest warrant from a 2018 case involving driving on suspended/revoked license in two separate counties. Bond was set at $6,000.

 

The Taylorville Police Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

63-year-old Clarence D. Coghlan of Edinburg was arrested on Friday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

30-year-old Candice M. Richardson of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for registration suspended and mandatory insurance violation.

 

20-year-old Evan M. Hogge of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for Zero Tolerance (DUI), Illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor (city ordinance), reckless driving, and no valid driver’s license.  He was released with a notice to appear. 

 

28-year-old Justin A. Jett of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage, disorderly conduct, aggravated assault, and attempt (aggravated battery).

 

18-year-old Dakota W. Moyer of Decatur was arrested on Sunday for driving with no valid driver’s license and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

 

28-year-old Cody L. Howard of Taylorville was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident property damage and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

 

18-year-old Michael L. Durbin Jr. of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for battery.

 

28-year-old Gregory M. Stone of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday for a warrant.

 

The Christian County Sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle accident on the afternoon of September 5th. 40-year-old Brent A. Phegley of Shelbyville was in the right turn lane to turn south on Cheney Street. 48-year-old Nicole A. Lawyer of Owaneco was traveling east on Springfield Road. Phegley accelerated in the turn lane, hit the median than hit Lawyer’s vehicle. Phegley lost control, regained it and pulled into Battery Specialist. When Lawyer turned in, Phegley accelerated ran over the curb cutting off another vehicle and took off swerving in and out of traffic without stopping.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on Monday afternoon. 28-year-old Justin A. Jett left Davita Dialysis located at 901 West Spresser Street upset and entered their vehicle to leave the property. Jett backed the vehicle out of the parking spot and according to the owner of the other vehicle, Chauntae E. Stubbs, a worker at Davita Dialysis, accelerated their vehicle hitting Stubb’s vehicle. Jett’s vehicle sustained heavy damage including airbag deployment, Stubb’s vehicle had minor damage and was pushed into the center island. Jett fled the scene and was later apprehended by law enforcement. Jett said he had minor injuries but refused treatment. Jett was issued citations for reckless driving, no insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a medical emergency vehicle accident on Monday evening. TPD received a call from Christian County 911 in regards to a motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of North Webster Street in Taylorville. 911 reported the female driver was attempting to drive herself to the hospital and was experiencing a medical emergency due to a heart condition. Upon arrival, TPD observed the vehicle sitting in the roadway. The driver, 60-year-old Diane R. Buchanon of Pana was short of breath and explained that she did, in fact, have a medical condition. She was driving to the hospital and got lost, but the medical issue caused her to swerve and hit a pole. Dunn’s Ambulance and TFD responded shortly thereafter. The vehicle received significant damage. Buchanon was rushed to the hospital.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on the evening of September 8th. 28-year-old Cody L. Howard of Taylorville was involved with a verbal altercation with a pedestrian, 29-year-old Jeremy R. Masters of Taylorville in the parking lot of 301 West Main Cross Street. After claiming to be threatened with a knife by Masters, Howard proceeded to back their vehicle out of the property.  During the backing, Masters claimed to have been struck by Howard and claimed injury as a result. Howard collided with a utility pole causing power lines to drop and the pole to be shifted from its foundation along with a loss of power. Howard refused to return to the scene of the accident when requested to do so by law enforcement. Law enforcement arrived at the location of Howard and observed the damage. Howard was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and a citation for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries within 30 minutes. Masters was taken to TMH for evaluation.

 

The Taylorville Police Department responded to a vehicle accident in the afternoon on September 9th. TPD received a call of a two car traffic crash at Cheney and State Street. 41-year-old John M. Corso of Taylorville was traveling northbound on Cheney Street when he slowed for traffic that was stopping in front of him. 36-year-old Susan Skelton of Kincaid was traveling behind and was looking away and didn’t realize that Corso had stopped and hit the back of his vehicle. No injuries were reported.

 

The Taylorville Fire Department reported the following to Regional Radio News;

 

There were 5 EMS calls between 9 on Monday morning and 9 on Tuesday morning.
