Area Arrests/Accidents 6/22/16

On Wednesday the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

28 year old Nicholas S. Hurlburt of Pana was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for phone harassment. Bond was set at $5000.

 

24 year old Brian J. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Tuesday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $15,000.



 

ACCIDENTS:

 

23 year old Emily D. Fleming of St. Louis, Missouri was traveling eastbound on IL Rt. 104. At approximately 550 east, a racoon entered the roadway. Fleming then struck the racoon on the roadway.

 

19 year old Lani N. Reed of Kincaid was traveling northwest on IL Rt. 29. As Reed passed Kennedy Rd, a deer entered the roadway. Reed then collided with the deer in the roadway.


On 6/18/16 54 year old Brent A. Cornell of Taylorville was traveling east on Spresser Street on a 2008 Honda Goldwing, and was passing through the intersection of Spresser and Shumway Streets. 62 year old Jeffrey M. Bland of Taylorville was attempting to exit Amity foods and was having trouble seeing due to a sign. Bland partially entered into the roadway. Cornell saw this, applied the brakes and swerved. Cornell was thrown off the motorcycle and landed in the roadway. Cornell’s vehicle continued driverless, into the parking lot of Gordon Olds and struck a parked vehicle causing damage. Cornell’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene, and Cornell was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital via Dunn's Ambulance to be treated for injuries.
