Area Arrests/Accidents 3-28-16

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

34 year-old Janet M. Vits of Ramsey was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $3,000.

 

32 year-old Wayne E. Whitmore of Springfield was arrested on Saturday on an original arrest warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $25,000.

 

33 year-old Heather J. Dobyns of Kincaid was arrested on Saturday for domestic battery.

 

36 year-old Steven J. Randall of Edinburg was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended/revoked license. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

32 year-old Kody K. Page of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for possession of a controlled substance.

 

* There was an error on the arrest of 45 year-old Julia K. Moon of Zionsville, Indiana back on March 12. Moon was not arrested on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended/revoked license. Julie Mayer, Christian County Circuit Court Clerk, stated the case has been dismissed.

 

Accidents:

 

22 year-old Taylor B. Ingram of Decatur was driving a 2007 Hyundai Utility, heading southbound on Illinois Route 51 at .5 mile north of 650 North Road when a deer ran into the roadway. Ingram was unable to avoid striking the deer on the roadway. His Hyundai received front end damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 20 at 7:25 a.m.

 

52 year-old Thomas L. Ashbaker of Nokomis was driving a 2013 Ford Edge, traveling north on 1100 East Road. At approximately 250 North, a deer entered the roadway, then Ashbaker struck it. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 22 at 7:42 p.m.

 

44 year-old Douglas R. Keppler of Moweaqua was driving a 2011 Suzuki Coupe, heading westbound on County Road 4. Keppler stated a deer walked into the roadway and he was unable to avoid striking the deer. Keppler was not injured. The accident occurred on March 27 at 7:10 a.m.

 

22 year-old Alexander T. Norris of Palmer was driving a 2015 Ford Taurus north on County Highway 1. Around 750 North, a deer ran into the roadway. Norris hit the deer causing damage to the front of the vehicle. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on March 20 at 7:40 p.m.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

28 year-old Natasha J. Lee of Decatur was arrested on Thursday for possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Accidents:

 

Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle accident at Route 29 and Route 104 with injuries. Officers arrived and spoke with both 17 year-old Marissa E. Burkey of Taylorville and 68 year-old Dean F. Ray of Taylorville. Burkey stated she was driving her 1996 Jeep Cherokee and had a green light and did not see Ray driving his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Burkey further stated she turned in front of Ray. Ray stated that Burkey turned in front of him, causing him to strike Burkey’s Jeep. No injuries were reported in Burkey’s vehicle. Ray stated he was not injured. However a passenger in Ray’s Cobalt, 64 year-old Kathleen A. Ray of Taylorville, indicated she had severe pain in her back. A rear seat passenger, 55 year-old Suzanne M. Cocagne of Taylorville, had a small cut on her finger and stated she was very sore. Kathleen A. Ray was transported by ambulance to Taylorville Memorial Hospital, while Cocagne was transported to TMH by Sgt. Thompson of the Taylorville Police Department. Burkey’s Jeep Cherokee sustained major passenger side damage, while Ray’s vehicle had major front end damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Burkey was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Turning Left. The accident occurred on March 27 at 9:57 a.m.

 

17 year-old Brittany L. Alberts of Taylorville and 45 year-old Marcy A. Kress of Taylorville were stopped in traffic waiting for a stopped vehicle to make a left turn. 18 year-old Reed O. Heberling of Taylorville, who was driving a 2001 Ford F-150, did not see Alberts stopped ahead of him. Heberling struck the rear of Alberts’ 1999 Nissan 4-door, pushing it into Kress’ 2016 Dodge Van. Alberts was taken to TMH by ambulance, along with a juvenile passenger in her vehicle. The accident occurred on March 24 at 2:30 p.m.


37 year-old Heather L. Davidson of Taylorville was driving a 1997 Dodge Intrepid, westbound on Springfield Road and was stopped for traffic in the 800 block, in front of Taylorville High School. 16 year-old Chase E. Gatons of Stonington, driving a 1999 Chevy SUV, was following behind Davidson, was not able to stop in time and struck Davidson’s Dodge. Both vehicles were able to drive from the scene and were moved prior to officer’s arrival. A passenger in Davidson’s vehicle was taken to TMH by ambulance. The accident occurred on March 21 at 3:15 p.m.
