Area Arrests/Accidents 2-22-16

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

19 year-old Justin L. Sexton of Taylorville was arrested on Monday for burglary. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

19 year-old Lydia E. Wilson of Edinburg was arrested on Monday for burglary. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

52 year-old Gary G. Best of Tovey was arrested on Saturday for driving under the influence with alcohol.

 

34 year-old Dwain E. Sarver of Pana was arrested on Saturday for domestic battery.

 

46 year-old Laura A. Humphrey of Morrisonville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $3,000.

 

38 year-old Justin L. Radford of Oconee was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for overweight on gross. Bond was set at $2,000.

 

22 year-old Micah D. Beck of Tower Hill was arrested on Saturday for threatening a public official and aggravated battery to a police officer.

 

44 year-old Michael L. Durbin of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

39 year-old Michael B. Kearney of Bulpitt was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court.

 

56 year-old Peggy A. Johnson of North Pole, Alaska was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving suspended or revoked. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

32 year-old Amanda N. Langston of Assumption was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant on operating uninsured. Bond was set at $2,500.

 

53 year-old Christopher E. Beard of Pana was arrested on Sunday for domestic battery. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

35 year-old Jerod A. Johnson of Nokomis was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant, and for resisting a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $50,000.

 

Accidents:

 

23 year old Katelyn N. Lollar was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat, heading northbound on Illinois Route 48, just south of Township Road 700 North. Lollar stated a white, four-door passenger car proceeded into her lane of traffic. Lollar stated she swerved over to the right to avoid striking the other car. Lollar then overcorrected and traveled across both traffic lanes, exiting the roadway to the left. Her Passat then entered the west ditch and continued approximately 125 feet, north of Township Road 700 North, before striking a concrete culvert. Her vehicle then continued a short distance before it came to rest in the west ditch, facing north. No injuries were reported. Her Passat received driver’s side damage. The accident occurred on Feb. 20 at 9:23 a.m.

 

89 year-old Raymond A. Baker of Taylorville was driving a 2001 Ford F-150, heading eastbound on Illinois Route 104, approximately 6/10 of a mile east of Township Road 175 East. An employee of the Illinois & Midland Railroad was doing a routine inspection of a highway railroad crossing assembly. The employee, Jayme A. Sarff, was standing on the south side of Route 104, facing the roadway, checking the mechanism. Sarff stated both crossing gates were closed and the lights were functioning properly.  Baker stated he did not see the crossing gate and then proceeded a short distance eastward before pulling off the roadway to the right. From the impact, a part of the assembly, Sarff believes it may have been the crossing gate arm counterweight, struck him in the right shoulder. The impact sent Sarff backwards from the assembly. Baker’s Ford received hood and windshield damage. The crossing gate arm was separated from the assembly. Baker refused medical treatment at the scene. Sarff refused medical treatment at the scene, but indicated he would seek treatment by private vehicle. The accident occurred on Feb. 19 at 1:19 p.m.

 

70 year-old William J. Smith of Springfield was traveling east in a 2014 Dodge pickup approximately 100 feet west of 2100 East Road. 28 year-old Marc D. Hopkins of Moweaqua was driving a 2002 Ford pickup and rear-ended Smith’s vehicle. The impact caused damage to Smith’s rear bumper and Hopkins left the scene. The accident occurred on Feb. 19 at 5:57 p.m.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

A male juvenile was arrested for burglary on Monday.

18 year-old Tyler A. Smith of Taylorville was arrested for illegal possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. 18 year-old Tucker J. May of Taylorville was arrested for illegal possession/consumption by a minor. A 16 year-old male juvenile was arrested for illegal possession/consumption by a minor. A 17 year-old male juvenile was arrested for illegal possession/consumption by a minor, possession of cannabis of 30 grams and under, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. All four were arrested on Sunday.

 

A male juvenile was arrested for battery on Friday.

 

25 year-old Joseph Leckner of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for driving while license suspended.

 

On Thursday, at approximately 5:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to East Main Cross at Cherokee for a shirtless male that had jumped out in front of of a vehicle. Upon further investigation, 38 year-old Matthew Neece of Taylorville was arrested for use of an intoxicating compound that is prohibited.

 

Accident:


26 year-old William M. Sterling of Edinburg was driving a 1991 Chevrolet dump truck that was loaded with asphalt. He stopped at the stop sign, preparing to back up to do repair work of the roadway. As Sterling backed up, it struck a 2015 Chevy 4-door car drived by 27 year-old Angie M. Rogers of Taylorville. Occupants in Sterling’s vehicle, stated they did not see Rogers’ Chevy in the mirrors. Rogers vehicle is a compact car. Occupants in Sterling’s vehicle stated the vehicle is equipped with audible backup alarms and their flashers were on. A passenger, in Rogers’ vehicle, 51 year-old Rhonda Ondrey of Taylorville was transported to TMH. after experiencing numbness in their leg. The accident occurred on Feb 19 at 2:29 p.m.
