Area Arrests/Accidents 2-16-16

On Tuesday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

25 year-old Robert A. Hargrave of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for unlawful use of a weapon. Bond was set at $1,500.

 

52 year-old Earl W. Morgan of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

45 year-old Steven E. Tucker of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $7,500.

 

33 year-old Coral L. Harrison of Tovey was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal trespass to land. Bond was set at $3,500.

 

48 year-old Ryan A. Kauzlarich of Decatur was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for meth manufacturing. Bond was set at $2,000.

 

26 year-old Amanda L. Allen of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $3,500.

 

44 year-old Starla D. Hostetler of Pana was arrested on Sunday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Bond was set at $6,500.

 

36 year-old Douglas W. Cowell of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for violating an order of protection and resisting/obstructing an officer. Bond was set at $200,000.

 

35 year-old Lynette E. Wiseman of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for domestic battery. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

Accidents:

 

50 year-old Robert L. Taylor of Assumption was driving a 1995 Chrysler Concord, heading eastbound on Township Road 1150 North. As his vehicle was approaching Township Road 2700 East, Taylor advised he began to lose control of the vehicle. His Chrysler then slid through the T-Intersection and struck the ditch embankment on the east side of 2700 East. Taylor was transported to Pana Community Hospital for his injuries. His vehicle was towed from the scene. The accident occurred on February 12 at 9:24 a.m.

 

30 year-old Bradford W. Duke of Taylorville and 25 year-old Mitchell W. Daigh of Taylorville were traveling south on Route 29. Daigh slowed down in his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado to turn right at 1600 East Road. Duke applied the brakes in his 2002 Chevrolet Z71, and the ABS light came on. Duke’s vehicle was not able to stop in time and hit Daigh’s Silverado on the passenger side of the vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage during the crash. No injuries to the drivers and passengers in Duke’s vehicle were reported. The accident occurred on February 15 at 4:05 p.m.

 

24 year-old Brandon A. Durbin of Pana was driving a 2006 Pontiac 4-door car southbound on County Highway 1. As Durbin entered the curve in the area of 200 North, it drove off the roadway to the right. Durbin lost control crossing over the northbound lane. His vehicle entered a field and came to rest facing south. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 12 at 10:37 a.m.

 

24 year-old Katherine F. Cloud of Staunton, Illinois was driving a 2006 Mercury Milan, heading northbound on Route 48. Around 1150 North, her vehicle slid off the road. Cloud’s Mercury hit a ditch, causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 14 at 3:34 p.m.

 

24 year-old Charis E. Hobbs of Taylorville was driving a 2003 Ford Mustang, heading eastbound on Township Road 900 North, approximately seven tenths of a mile west of Township Road 675 East. Hobbs lost control on the snow covered roadway, rotated clockwise, and exited the roadway to the right. Her Ford Mustang struck a metal, no trespassing sign post. Her vehicle received front, driver’s side damage. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 14 at 1:55 p.m.

 

27 year-old Gregory S. Knoles of Pleasant Plains, Illinois was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry eastbound on County Road 2. Knoles stated that he lost control, slid off the roadway and struck a field entrance, causing major damage to the front of his Camry. Knoles drove the vehicle from the scene of the accident to his residence in Mt. Auburn. He was issued two citations. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 13 at 5:04 a.m.

 

On Tuesday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

35 year-old Amanda R. Fathauer of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for battery.

 

23 year-old Danielle E. Patnode of Pana was arrested on Monday for retail theft.

 

39 year-old Rebecca E. Miller of Pana was arrested on Friday for driving while license suspended or revoked.

 

Accidents:

 

44 year-old Naomi E. Gorenz of Pana was driving a 2005 Dodge Van, stopped at the stop light facing east at the intersection of Spresser and Shumway. 30 year-old Christina M. Wiseman of Taylorville was driving a 2015 Hyundai 4-door passenger car, was traveling east on Spresser Street approaching the stop light at Shumway. Wiseman did not slow down soon enough and rear ended Gorenz’s vehicle at the stop light. Gorenz’s van was pushed from the point of impact approximately 97.7 feet before stopping. Wiseman’s Hyundai traveled approximately 199.1 feet before stopping. Gorenz’s Dodge received major rear-end damage, while Wiseman’s Hyundai received major front-end damage.

 

Christina M. Wiseman was combative and was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital for treatment . Passengers in Gorenz’s vehicle were also treated at TMH. Wiseman was eventually transported to Memorial Hospital in Springfield for her injuries and accident blood draw. The accident occurred on February 10 at 9:17 p.m.

 

32 year-old Jacob A. Samson of Taylorville was driving a  2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue on Long Street and failed to yield right of way to 87 year-old Doris J. Julius of Blue Mound, driver of a 2003 Mitsubishi 4-door, heading westbound on Park Street. Julius could not stop in time to avoid striking Samson’s Oldsmobile. Julius sustained a slight laceration on her left elbow, and also stated she had some soreness in her left leg. She refused medical treatment at the scene, and said she may seek medical attention personally. A witness stated she saw Samson drive through the intersection without stopping. The accident occurred on February 15 at 2:33 p.m.

 

82 year-old Patricia M. Herpstreith of Owaneco was driving a 2001 Buick Regal, heading westbound on Park Street and was approaching the intersection of Park Street and McAdam Drive. 40 year-old Andrea S. Zaffiri of Rochester was exiting north from the parking lot of the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office in a 2012 Dodge Mini-Van and did not see Herpstreith, causing a collision. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Herpstreith was taken to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance due to injuries. The accident occurred on February 12 at 2:20 p.m.


50 year-old John M. McKee of Newton, Illinois was transporting a John Deere tractor on his 2005 Kenworth W900, travelling eastbound on Park. The top of the tractor was supposed to be 13 feet, 6 inches from the ground. The viaduct is 13 feet, 9 inches. The top of the tractor struck the viaduct and caused heavy damage to the tractor. Debris from the tractor struck a 2007 Chevy 4-door that was driven by 55 year-old Thomas A. Morrison of Assumption, which was travelling westbound on Park. A witness said Morrison’s Chevy had to lock up the brakes, but was still struck at least once by falling debris. No injuries were reported. The accident occurred on February 12 at 5:47 p.m.
