Area Arrests/Accidents 2-8-16

On Monday, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:
 

45 year-old Melissa L. Handlin of Mt. Auburn was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for DUI. Bond was set at $3,000.

 

39 year-old Tommy R. Smith of Nokomis was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

43 year-old Harvey G. Droke of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $50,000.

 

21 year-old Jacob G. Fahl of Morrisonville was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $10,000.

 

60 year-old Terry L. Borkhardt of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on an original arrest warrant for delivery of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $50,000.

 

28 year-old Jeremy R. Coy of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving under the influence. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

30 year-old Derek W. Kelmel of Morrisonville was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant for an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

27 year-old Dustin J. Johnson of Thornton, Colorado was arrested on Saturday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $5,000.

 

29 year-old Jessica L. Crossin of Springfield was arrested on Monday on a bond forfeiture warrant on an issuance of warrant. Bond was set at $50,000, but was later released on her own recognizance.

 

Accident:

 

54 year-old Catherine Y. Wade of Edinburg was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, traveling westbound on 2200 North Road, approxmiately ¾ mile east of 1300 East Road. Wade’s Malibu left the north side of the roadway for 15 feet and then came back onto the roadway and crossed over to the south side. Wade’s vehicle traveled thru the south ditch for 48 feet before entering the roadway again. Once again, the Malibu drove into the north ditch, this time traveling through the ditch for 61 feet before striking a concrete culvert. Her vehicle continued through the ditch for 273 feet and then back onto the roadway. Once on the roadway, Wade overcorrected causing the vehicle to slide sideways off the roadway and struck the south ditch embankment before rolling over. Wade was transported to Taylorville Memorial Hospital by ambulance due to injuries.

 

A witness of the accident stated that he was traveling eastbound at approximately the same location when Wade’s Malibu began to swerve towards him. The witness stated that he moved far enough out of the way that Wade went by him without making any contact. The witness further stated that Wade’s vehicle went from ditch to ditch down the roadway and eventually rolled over. The accident occurred on February 5 at 2:25 p.m.

 

On Monday, the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

26 year-old Amanda L. Allen of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for use of an intoxicating compound.

 

28 year-old Jeremy R. Cole of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday on a Greene County warrant.

 

Two female juveniles were arrested on Saturday for retail theft. They were released to their parents on a notice to appear.

 

On Monday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio:

 

A 15 year-old male juvenile was arrested on January 17 for burglary. The burglary occurred at Butch’s Station in Findlay. Items from the burglary were recovered at the residence of the juvenile. Charges have been requested to the State’s Attorney’s office and he was released into the custody of his parents.

 

56 year-old Michael C. Foreman of Shelbyville was arrested on January 29 for driving under the influence of alcohol following a single car accident on County Road 800 East, near 2100 North where he was found to be the driver.

 

26 year-old Heather Shelton of Beecher City was arrested on January 31 for driving under the influence of alcohol, following a traffic stop on Route 32 and County Road 600 North. She was released from the Shelby County Detention Center after posting bail.

 

41 year-old Jacob L. Lowe of Pana was arrested for violation of his sex offender residential registration status. Lowe was on record with the State with an address in Pana and was found to be living at a location in Shelbyville Township for more than 3 consecutive days. He was incarcerated in the Shelby County Detention Center, awaiting an appearance in court.
