Taylorville Girls Go Back-And-Forth Versus U-High Before Game Slips Away

The Taylorville girls basketball team is on another losing run after a 66-43 home loss to Normal University High School on Saturday night.  Like their previous game, the Tornadoes put pressure on their opponents before the game got away later.

U-High built an early seven-point lead which Taylorville shortly thereafter erased.  A back-and-forth second quarter left the Pioneers up only one at the break.  They pulled away after the restart thanks to consistently accurate shooting from MacKenzie Matejka and Haylie Hoffman.  U-High made sure with a similar fourth quarter while holding Taylorville to just seven in that period.

Matejka and Hoffman each scored 22 and 17 points, respectively, while Kendyl Schroeder put in 14.  McKynlee Siempelkamp led Taylorville with 13.  She excelled all around and earned the title of Chill Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game.  Baileigh Jackson added ten points, all in the first quarter.

With the defeat, Taylorville is now at 7-19.  They host Charleston next up on Tuesday; live coverage will be available on 96.5 The Chill.  Normal Uni is now 14-12 and will make another trip, this time to Limestone.
