Taylorville Girls Lose To Lincoln In Speedy Encounter

The Taylorville girls basketball team lost 46-37 to Lincoln on Tuesday night.  The Tornadoes spent much of the game down only by single digits to the state champion from only two seasons ago.

In the first and second quarters, Lincoln and Taylorville each put up 14 and 9 points, respectively.  Both teams began the game strong from beyond the arc and continued as such, combining for 14 three-point baskets.  The teams also moved up the court quickly, even amid their opponents' full-court press.  Lincoln eventually pulled away thanks to key scores from Grace Bivin.

Peyton DeMichael was named the Chill Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game.  Her only points came from behind the three-point line in a pair of such hits which put the away side on edge.  She also secured key rebounds and steals.  Baileigh Jackson added 11 points for the Tornadoes.  For the Railsplitters, Bivin finished with nine points, while Mia Clark led the way with 13.

Taylorville drops to 5-14 on the season and travels to MacArthur on Thursday.  The game will be available on 96.5 The Chill.  Lincoln jumps to 13-6 and hosts Taylorville's Saturday opponent, Mt. Zion.
