Taylorville Girls Soundly Beaten By Effingham

The Taylorville girls basketball team lost 72-31 away to Effingham on Friday night.  The Hearts overcame a slow start to pull far away from the Tornadoes.

The Purple-and-Gold led 7-1 after the opening minutes, but Effingham snuck in front 17-15 at quarter-time.  They kept going through several baskets by Alyssa Martin, who finished with 21 points.  Effingham won the middle quarters 44-10, forcing a running clock in the fourth.

Averie Wolfe and Tessa Raddatz finished with 18 and 17 points respectively.  Baileigh Jackson was named the Chill Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game for her team-leading eight points and multitude of rebounds.

Taylorville's record is now 5-12 overall and 3-2 in the conference.  They turn around quickly to host Morton on Saturday.  Tip-off will be not earlier than 5:30 p.m. with coverage available on 96.5 The Chill.  Effingham is now at 16-2 and remains perfect in the conference; they face Paris at home next.
