Taylorville Girls Snap Losing Run In Charleston Win

The Taylorville girls basketball team is back to winning ways after an 80-46 win away to Charleston.  Nine different Tornadoes found the basket in the team's first away win of the season.

Taylorville found themselves in control for much of the game.  They led 21-14 after the first quarter, but the Trojans pulled to within four at one point in the second.  The Tornadoes did respond well to lead 40-23 at the intermission.

The third quarter was an offensive show for both teams, who combined for seven three-point scores.  Taylorville continued to stretch the lead, forcing a running clock for much of the fourth quarter.

Grace Rogers led her side's individual scoring with 18, while Baileigh Jackson and McKynlee Siempelkamp each contributed fifteen.  Siempelkamp's output included two threes and key steals, which led to her being named the Chill Nicole Patrick Country Financial Player of the Game.  The game's top scorer across both teams was Charleston's Sadie Phillips with 21 points.

Taylorville now is 4-6 overall and 2-1 in the Apollo Conference.  They travel to O'Fallon on Wednesday; live commentary of the game will be available on 96.5 The Chill.  Charleston drops to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference and must next travel to Mt. Zion.
