The Taylorville boys celebrated the seven seniors on their basketball squad but couldn't pull off the victory as 15-11 Shelbyville defeated 14-15 Taylorville 60-47. The Tornadoes did not have an answer for Jack Jokisch who scored an impressive 24 points and kept the Taylorville defense busy all night. Myles Hammond also contributed 19 points in the victory.
Taylorville saw 17 points for Drake Howard and six each from Clark Durbin, Blake Ladage, and Baron Odam in the loss. Coach Ryan Brown praised the seven seniors for their hard work all season and all that they've been through over the last four years.
Taylorville broadcaster Leroy Kleimola had a chance to talk to the seven seniors. Congratulations to Shey Champley, Clark Durbin, Owen Younker, Drake Howard, Luke Wheeler, Baron Odam, and Kade Beckmier. The boys talked a little about the last four years.
Drake Howard was named the Nicole Patrick Country Financial Agent, Player of the game for his 17 points. Taylorville will take on Jacksonville on the road tomorrow night at 7 PM to close out their regular season before facing Rochester in the playoffs. Pregame on WTIM at 6:45.
