Taylorville Boys Lose Tough One In Lincoln

The Taylorville Tornadoes suffered a tough loss to the Lincoln Railers 40-30 on Saturday night. Coming off a loss the night before to Charleston, the Taylorville Tornadoes needed to bring the energy early, playing on the road in Lincoln.  The Railsplitters were also coming in playing the night before and both teams looked absolutely exhausted in that first quarter.

The Tornadoes scored the first two points and when the buzzer sounded at the end of the first the score was 8-2 in favor of Lincoln.  The second quarter was also sloppy as the Tornadoes got some points from Brock Brown and Malique Pearse and that was it.  The Tornadoes would head into the locker room at halftime trailing 17-6.

The energy would ramp up in the second half with Taylorville being outscored 13-10 as the Tornadoes saw some huge defensive efforts from Owen Younker who came off the bench and immediately made a name for himself on the court.  Drake Howard would hit a couple of three's in the fourth and the Tornadoes would battle getting within 9 but the Railers would hold on picking up a 40-30 win.

The Tornadoes fall to 12-12 with a big test against Mt. Zion on the road on Tuesday evening.  Coach Ryan Brown says he was proud of the defensive effort the team put out during the game and says the offense just struggled to get going until it was too late.  He says he's looking forward to the Mt. Zion game.

Owen Younker was named the Nicole Patrick Country FInancial Player of the game finishing with 9 points and several rebounds, blocks, and steals. Taylorville will play Mt. Zion on Tuesday evening pregame will be on WTIM at 6:45.
